Colton Underwood is commemorating another personal milestone almost a year after revealing his entire self to his followers.

The former “Bachelor” star and his boyfriend Jordan C. Brown confirmed their engagement on Monday. He stated the proposal happened shortly after his 30th birthday (Jan. 26) while they were on vacation in Big Sur, California. “I’m overjoyed!” said Colton Underwood.

Colton Underwood Came Out As A Gay Man In 2021

On Monday night, Underwood posted a romantic photo of the couple on his social media pages. On Instagram, Brown, a political strategist based in Los Angeles who worked on former President Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns, echoed those comments.

In an April interview with “Good Morning America,” Underwood revealed that he is gay. His announcement, however, did not go down well. Netflix revealed plans for “Coming Out Colton,” a six-episode series that would follow Underwood’s journey to live openly as a homosexual man, just hours after the “Good Morning America” interview aired. The program, which debuted in December, garnered criticism from members of the LGBTQ community, with some accusing Underwood of “monetizing” the process of coming out.

Others chastised Netflix for appearing to celebrate Underwood, who was accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend, “Bachelor” participant Cassie Randolph, in 2020 and were issued a restraining directive.

In December, Underwood confirmed to People that he and Brown were dating after months of rumors. He remarked, “I met someone and I am very much in love,” only weeks after the couple walked the red carpet together at the 2021 Baby2Baby Gala in Los Angeles. In honor of Valentine’s Day, he recognized his struggle toward self-acceptance while raving about his fiancée.
