Working in PR, social media, Marketing and sometimes for many of us it is hard to find the balance of Post or Not To Post. Social Media is engaging, entertaining, but it can also take a toll on mental health.
Denzel Washington shared a quote that really resonated with me. You might have seen it on my Instagram last month… “Just because you don’t share it on social media, doesn’t mean you are not up to big things. Live it and stay low-key. Privacy is everything.” It’s true! As creators, figures, business owners and more we may feel the need to boast on social media to prove ourselves. I encourage you to really think through how you are sharing your accomplishments with the internet. I got to thinking in January are we boasting to prove we are better, or just proud that we did it. What is wrong with a little bit of both?
Highlighting business wins, successes and accomplishments are important especially when you rely on referrals for your business. People love to see social proof and really get a feel for your personality through social media. In turn, look at social media as a fun way to creatively share your work! Yet, be sure you are proud of your own accomplishments and know you worked hard for that. It should not be taken for granted and it isn’t always going to be there. However, beware, not everyone is always happy for you. Surround yourself and hire those who celebrate those accomplishments with you and want to climb the mountain of hard work with you.
I really appreciate my clients spreading the word about my business and introducing me to even more incredible people!
This year I am really going to focus on a work life balance, which means quality time on social media. I want to use my platforms to educate about what I do in my business and teach in the hopes that you will find those tips helpful in your business and personal lives. I want to brag about my clients’ successes on the media. When I step away from social media you will find me with my family, friends and probably not that many posts about it… because as Denzel says, just because you don’t share it on social media, doesn’t mean you are not up to big things!”
