Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, a student from Indonesia, decided to take a selfie of himself everyday since 2017. Fast forward to 2022, and those selfies have now made him a millionaire overnight. Why? He minted them as non fungible tokens (NFTs) on the OpenSea NFT marketplace. For those who haven’t caught up on NFTs, they’re basically digital collectibles like art and music that are put on Blockchain technology, and cannot be duplicated. Ghozali said he started taking selfies between 2017-2021 as a way to reflect on his graduation journey. These selfies were either taken sitting or standing in front of his computer, which were then minted into NFTs and uploaded to OpenSea marketplace in December 2021. A few of these photos fetched ETH 0.9 each, which equates to around $3,009 USD.
