“She actually knew methods to stay – and the way necessary mates, household, and enjoyable are to life. Her depraved humorousness was at all times within the room, typically ready for a second when it was wanted most. Her kids, her mates, and I are eternally grateful for each second we had together with her.”
Tributes from business friends
In its personal assertion, which included tributes from former colleagues, Ogilvy referred to as King an “irrefutable big.”
Liz Taylor, Ogilvy’s world chief artistic officer, recalled the company boss as an “extraordinary power… what lit her up most was folks — her shoppers, her groups, her friends.”
Rory Sutherland, Ogilvy U.Ok.’s vice chairman and former artistic chief in King’s Ogilvy lineup, lauded her “razor-sharp thoughts, dry humor, sharp elbows, and gritty dedication with immense instinct and kindness.”
“You’d go to see Annette whether or not you wished somebody assassinated (she would make it appear like an accident) or should you wanted to take a time off to attend your daughter’s Nativity play in the midst of a pitch,” Sutherland stated. “We will not see her once more, and I shall miss her greater than I can say.”
Co-founder and editor of indie publication and consultancy Creative Salon, Sonoo Singh, who labored with King on many tasks over time, described her as a “real titan.”
“A captain of the business. A uncommon beast. She lit up rooms. Commanded consideration. Bloody hell, she was simply not possible to disregard,” Singh stated. “Sharp, humorous, curious, mischievous. AK-47 (sure, feared by many), she was by no means one for moping round and at all times up for amusing, whereas able to stir the pot a little bit if it wanted stirring.”
In an electronic mail to U.Ok. employees, King’s former boss, Publicis Groupe CEO Arthur Sadoun, stated: “Nobody embodied our motto ‘no silos, no solos, no bozos’ higher than Annette,” noting her impression was nonetheless felt throughout the Groupe right this moment.
He added: “I’ll eternally be grateful to her for taking a leap of religion and leaping into the unknown with us. It was a danger, at a time when the market and plenty of others have been skeptical. However Annette, as at all times, was fearless.”
King is survived by her husband and two kids, Carter and Sylvie.
