Need for Speed Unbound comes out on December 9th and to celebrate, Ivan and Kilian of ‘2Real4Underground’ previews their Need for Speed Underground 2 remake in Unreal Engine 5. Not just cut scenes, this remake includes performance upgrades, paint, decal, vinyl, body and some specialty modifications, just like the original, which was launched in 2004.



It still lets you tune cars for street races, but adds several new features, like broader customization, new methods of selecting races, and racing in a new city known as Bayview. What you probably won’t see is an updated voice for Rachel Teller, originally voiced by Brooke Burke, who guides the player throughout the game. Fans of the series may remember that the Nintendo DS port introduced a new feature where players can design custom decals for any vehicle in the game, and we can only it’s included in this remake.

Need for Speed Underground 2 Unreal Engine 5 Remake

We are currently shifting the project to UE5 and refactor some stuff so that will take some time, also we need to wait for FMOD support for the newest update. I can already say, the performance increases with Unreal Engine 5 and tests gave us more stable physics and a more predictable simulation. Ah yes, the whole collisions of the game are overhauled and consists of simplified collision meshes. So it is not possible to fall off the world, get stuck somewhere and smooth sliding along walls is possible,” said the developers.
