Former US President Donald Trump is poised to launch his own social networking program, Truth Social, less than a year after being banned from practically every major social media platform. Trump started things off with a usually bombastic post, weeks before the scheduled publication date of Truth Social.
One thing stuck out when Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr, published an image of the former president’s first post on Truth Social earlier this week: the UI was strikingly similar to Twitter’s.

The platform, which was created by the Trump Media & Technology Group, claims to foster open and unfettered discussion. The launch of the new platform comes at a time when the right-wing social media environment in the United States is rapidly expanding, with Twitter rivals like Parler, Gab, and GETTR fast gaining traction. Trump’s new program, like Parler’s, is sure to entice many of his fans, including those who believe Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 US elections was the product of electoral fraud. Trump has also stated that he wants to run for president again in 2024. If that happens, Truth Social will very certainly be his preferred medium for communicating with his fans.
Trump used the microblogging site to circumvent established media throughout his presidency, amassing more than 20,000 tweets.
The makers of Truth Social have said that the site would have a Big Tent approach. The entries, dubbed ‘truths,’ seem virtually identical to tweets, with the comment, share, and like buttons immediately beneath. Users may follow other persons and hot topics on the app. Trump joined the social networking site on February 10 and already has roughly 175 followers, according to screenshots of his account.

The app’s Beta version was introduced in December of last year, with early access limited to a select few. The app was supposed to be published on February 21, Presidents Day in the United States, however, it was postponed until March.
