Bell Aliant says a software program replace brought on landline customers in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I being unable to succeed in 911.

The difficulty lasted between 6am and eight:30am, native time. A “fall-back mechanism” within the telecom supplier’s system meant the outage didn’t affect wi-fi gadgets, Katie Hatfield, a senior communications supervisor at Bell, informed MobileSyrup.

“The foundation trigger was a software program replace launched at roughly 6:00am in preparation for 10-digit dialling for New Brunswick, which triggered sudden name processing failures to 911,” Hatfield mentioned.

The outage brought on Trade Minister François-Philippe Champagne to tweet his disappointment, calling it “unacceptable.”

It’s unclear if the Minister will take any motion in opposition to Bell.
