Netflix’s foray into gaming started in 2021 with mixed success. Now, the streaming giant appears to want to extend its game offering from mobile games into full-fledged PC games, complete with AAA titles.

Engadget recently noticed a job listing on the Netflix’s website for a “Game Director.” The listing states that the company wants a “highly-skilled Game Director to help us forge the game direction and creative vision on a brand-new AAA PC game.” The job description states that applicants are to “develop, champion and continuously improve and iterate on the core creative vision for the game.”

The job listing also says that the game in question would be developed on the Unreal Engine. And that experience with first-person-shooters or third-person-shooters is preferred. Additionally, the ideal candidate would be able to create a game that would appeal to “10’s or 100’s of millions of players around the world.”

Developing a AAA game would be a major departure for Netflix gaming, as it has solely focused on mobile and cloud games up to this point. That said, some recently released titles like Triviaverse can be played on a Smart TV screen.

Creating a PC game would also be a major departure from Netflix’s streaming-oriented business model. However, it would be in line with the company’s direction of creating original content, as it has done with TV series and films since the launch of House of Cards back in 2013.
