This is Not a Real McLaren F1 LM, Just a Masterful Replica That Took 23-Years to Build – TechEBlog

McLaren F1 LM Replica
H/t: Car Scoops
The track-focused McLaren F1 LM is one of the most limited supercars produced, with just 5 vehicles known to exist. This means that even if one were to be offered for sale, the price tag would be north of $20-million USD, but Danie Brough from South Africa had another idea. He decided to build a replica from scratch, complete with a custom chassis handcrafted from carbon fiber and aluminum. Read more for a video and additional information.

After the chassis was completed, he then moved onto the bodywork, which is mainly composed of carbon fiber, aluminum and fiberglass. Most replicas lack in the power department, so Danie wanted to change that by sourcing a V12 from a BMW 850i before slapping on a twin-turbocharger system that makes 650 hp, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, While the power number may not seem impressive compared to the hypercars of today, this 2,601 lb replica is most certainly fast enough to enjoy the autobahn.
