3D-Printed RC Ice Vehicle Has a Functional Chain Drive, Works on Frozen Lake – TechEBlog

3D-Printed RC Ice vehicle Snowmobile
Thanks to the continued advancement in 3D printing technologies, people are able to make things at home that they could have only dreamed of a few years ago, like a remote-controlled ice vehicle. Simon Sörensen of RCLifeOn did just that and this one-wheel drive creation is capable of traversing a frozen lake with ease, thanks in part to the ice skate-sourced runners up front used for steering. Read more for a video of it in-action and additional information.

All of the 3D-printed parts, the ice skate runners and wheel were connected to an RC controller that feeds off lithium-ion batteries to power everything. Not everything went smoothly the first time around, including fixing the large turning radius, but after some work, these kinks were ironed out. Let’s just say that the second version will definitely build upon its predecessor and be able to travel much faster.
