On this week’s HomeKit Insider Podcast, your hosts discuss the new Hive mini thermostat, Meross’ debut of a new smoke detector, and Netatmo’s wired power adapter for its smart thermostat.

The past few weeks have seen a drought of HomeKit news, but we’re back with a few new product launches this week.

European smart home company Hive has debuted a new mini thermostat that will work with Apple HomeKit. It isn’t likely to make it to the U.S., though so don’t hold your breath waiting for it for it stateside.

Meross has introduced a new HomeKit-enabled smoke detector, adding a new option to a woefully under-represented category. There are only a few HomeKit smoke detectors available, so this will be welcomed by users looking for more options. These will require a hub though, which is necessary to save battery life and provide reliable connectivity.

Finally, Netatmo has released a wired power adapter for its smart video doorbell. This will allow users to plug the doorbell into the wall if existing wiring isn’t available.
