Built-in security solutions will become essential for storage market success<\/h3>\n

Cloud storage is a<\/span> $70+ billion<\/span><\/a> market. And if it sticks to its projected 26.2% compound annual growth rate, it will hit $390 billion in 2028. Infinidat holds a strong position in that market. The company closed out 2021 with<\/span> an impressive list<\/span><\/a> of awards and accolades, and it holds over 25% of the Fortune 100 in its customer list. InfiniGuard is an important piece of the company\u2019s strategy to hold that market lead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2022, the gap will further widen between premier solutions with built-in ransomware protection capabilities and those without,\u201d predicts <\/span>Max Mortillaro<\/span><\/a>, storage analyst at GigaOm, in an email interview with SiliconANGLE.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mortillaro believes that within 12 to 18 months, companies that can\u2019t provide ransomware protection will be losing customers to competitors who can.<\/span><\/p>\n

Infinidat is known as a disrupter within the close-knit cloud storage community for its refusal to jump on the all-flash bandwagon. Over the past year, the company has undergone a renaissance. A new executive team brought fresh energy to the company and<\/span> evolved its portfolio<\/span><\/a> by adding InfiniGuard and an InfiniBox solid state array to meet the twin demands of enterprise: security and speed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> InfiniBox SSA<\/span><\/a> may be an all-flash array, but that\u2019s just a choice of convenience,<\/span> according to<\/span><\/a> Infinidat\u2019s Field Chief Technology Officer<\/span> Ken Steinhardt<\/span><\/a>. \u201cWe can use virtually any technology on the back end. And, in this case, we\u2019ve chosen to use flash,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The true differentiator between the InfiniBox and its all-flash competitors remains the same, according to Steinhardt: the software that provides caching to the front-end DRAM.<\/span><\/p>\n

With InfiniGuard, it\u2019s the promise of almost instantaneous recovery that marks the product out from the crowd. As mentioned, the solution provides logical air-gapping and immutable snapshots for backup datasets. In the event of a disaster, the built-in automation goes to work, identifying and restoring the most recent known good backup.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith many workloads moving to the cloud, you\u2019ve got to have this infrastructure that supports core edge and cloud, the virtualization layer and, of course, the container layer across a hybrid environment,\u201d Herzog said. \u201cWe can do that with all three of these solutions, [and] with a common underlying software-defined storage architecture.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
