Cybersecurity software startup Keeper Security Inc.<\/a>\u00a0today said it has acquired remote access gateway company\u00a0Glyptodon Inc.<\/a> for an undisclosed price.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2013, Glyptodon is the company that invented and maintains\u00a0Apache Guacamole, the free and open-source, cross-platform remote access desktop gateway. In 2018, the company launched Glyptodon Enterprise, a platform designed to allow\u00a0DevOps and information technology teams to access RDP, SSH and Kubernetes endpoints through a web browser.<\/p>\n

Glyptodon Enterprise offers an\u00a0agentless remote desktop gateway that can be installed in any on-premises or cloud environment. Core features include RDP, SSH, K8s and VNC protocols, session recording, multi-user session sharing, role-based controls and two-factor authentication. Glyptodon Enterprise also supports Active Directory, SSO and LDAP integration.<\/p>\n

The service can be on-premises or in the cloud and can connect to a machine from anywhere using a web browser.\u00a0Glyptodon Enterprise is designed to be integrated with many third-party systems and protocols. Deployment options include Docker or RPM with authentication modules for popular databases and AD\/LDAP.<\/p>\n

Keeper Security said the acquisition is part of its continued evolution in the identity and access cybersecurity market, particularly in enabling secure access to remote resources. Glyptodon Enterprise will be integrated into Keeper Security\u2019s zero-trust<\/a> and zero-knowledge<\/a> security and encryption architecture, delivering what Keeper says is a highly secure, agentless remote access platform without requiring a virtual private network.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn today\u2019s changing work environment with distributed technical teams and compute resources residing in the cloud or in a remote location, it is vital that enterprises can securely and quickly connect with those systems,\u201d Darren Guccione, co-founder and chief executive officer of Keeper Security, said in a statement. \u201cAcquiring Glyptodon is an important component of our go-forward strategy as we unify essential privileged access management features into our cybersecurity platform to protect organizations in the public and private sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keeper Security said that it would continue to support the open-source Apache Guacamole project while also advancing the capabilities of its fully supported commercial version.<\/p>\n

Coming into its acquisition,\u00a0Glyptodon was a privately held company and had not raised any venture capital funding, at least publicly. Keeper Security has raised $60.3 million in funding, according to<\/a> Crunchbase, with Insight Partners its principal investor.<\/p>\n
