Cybersecurity giant Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.<\/a> today announced it has acquired Israeli code security startup Spectral Cyber Technologies Ltd.<\/a> for an undisclosed price.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2020, Spectral offers developers the ability to build and shift software without worry through tools for security that the company says are simple, fast and \u201ccool.\u201d Offering fast code security for code and cloud, the company\u2019s service monitors, classifies and protects code, assets and infrastructure. That includes exposure to application programming interface keys, tokens, credentials and high-risk security misconfiguration.<\/p>\n

Pitched as a key innovator in developer security, Spectral also has a thriving open-source community. The company\u2019s tools support a wide range of automated code security use cases, including infrastructure as code scanning, code tampering prevention, hardcoded secrets detection, source controls and continuous integration\/continuous deployment security, and source code leakage detection.<\/p>\n

Spectral says its solutions can be deployed in less than five minutes and fast code scanning delivers comprehensive and accurate results within seconds.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s tools are used by developers from more than 300 organizations worldwide. Notable customers include SimilarWeb Ltd., Perion Network Ltd., Amperity Inc., Moonshot, Micro Focus International plc, Kryon Systems Ltd. and eTorro (Europe) Ltd.<\/p>\n

Spectral\u2019s tools will be integrated into Check Point\u2019s Infinity security platform as part of its CloudGuard offering, delivering what is claimed to be the industry\u2019s most comprehensive security platform from code to cloud.<\/p>\n

\u201cCheck Point is constantly looking at how cloud security will morph in the future so we can invest today in securing whatever comes next,\u201d Dr. Dorit Dor, chief product officer at Check Point, said in a statement. \u201cThe acquisition of Spectral further emphasizes our commitment to cloud developers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dor added that \u201cthis is Check Point\u2019s fifth cloud security acquisition in the last three years, reaffirming our commitment to support the cloud developer\u2019s community and our mission of delivering cloud security automation, usability and trust across any cloud to every enterprise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Previous Check Point acquisitions included cloud email security startup Avanan Inc. in August<\/a> and cloud security startup Dome9 Security Inc. in 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Coming into its acquisition,\u00a0Spectral had raised $6.2 million in venture capital funding, according to<\/a> Crunchbase. Investors include MizMaa Ventures and Amiti Ventures. Although the acquisition price was not disclosed, Globes reported<\/a>\u00a0that Check Point paid about $60 million for Spectral.<\/p>\n
