an ERP project intended to improve efficiency in finance and HR management at the UK&#8217;s Student Loans Company (SLC).<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk\/Notice\/45c6f937-1a8a-4d84-ae78-82f6bb7121ee\" rel=\"noopener\">contract award notice<\/a>, the US SaaS application vendor has won the deal for &#8220;provision of Workday ERP software licences and associated services.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/913240\/SLC_Annual_Business_Plan_2021_V1.5_Secure.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">annual report<\/a> published earlier this month, SLC &#8211; an executive non-departmental public body &#8211; said it was working on the second stage of its Workday implementation.<\/p>\n<div manual processes and provide more automated forecasting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is also expected to support the SLC&#8217;s HR strategy &#8220;with new functionality on performance management, absence phase of the Workday project which, from November 2019, provided core financial and HR functionality, according to an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/946122\/Annual_Report_2019-20_V6.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">earlier annual report<\/a> [PDF] for 2019\/20 .<\/p>\n<p>The 2018-2019 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/863826\/Annual_Report_2018-19.pdf.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">annual report<\/a> [PDF] noted that the project was necessary for the mitigation of corporate risk. &#8220;Internal Audit noted that some issues will take time to fully resolve, in particular, the implementation of the replacement href=\"https:\/\/www.whatdotheyknow.com\/request\/erp_systems_57\" rel=\"noopener\">according to an FOI request from 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>SLC has been busy with IT procurement. Last year <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2021\/04\/22\/cagmini_150m_deal_student_loan_company\/\" rel=\"noopener\">it awarded Capgemini a \u00a3150m contract<\/a> in an effort to move on from a troubled history with information technology.<\/p>\n<p>The outsourcing and consultancy firm got the deal to be a &#8220;Strategic Partner for Platform Delivery and Technology Services&#8221; and is set &#8220;to deliver a wide range of services across our Platform Delivery and Technology Services area with the SLC Technology Group.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, SLC saw \u00a350m flushed down the drain on a cancelled IT transformation project, designed to provide a &#8220;digital by default&#8221; system to cope with a major increase in student numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2013 in conjunction with the Government Digital Service, it was supposed to be a &#8220;robust and agile customer-centred student finance system&#8221; to tackle the &#8220;very poor&#8221; student experience due to a lack of case information.<\/p>\n<p>HCL had been appointed as a delivery partner to build replacement Core Ledger and Security modules, with three online applications going live in January 2014.
