Nearly five years after its launch, the Wyze Cam v1 will be discontinued<\/a> on February 1st. Wyze will no longer \u201csell, improve, or maintain\u201d the camera, and notes that customers should upgrade to ensure that their smart home network stays secure from hackers.<\/p>\n

Wyze says it\u2019s discontinuing its original security camera because it can\u2019t \u201csupport a necessary security update.\u201d While we\u2019re disappointed by the sudden change, it\u2019s clear that Wyze doesn\u2019t have a choice here. Smart home cameras are a prime target for hackers, so Wyze can\u2019t leave important security fixes out of its \u201csupported\u201d devices.<\/p>\n

You can still use your Wyze Cam v1 after this date, but as our End-of-Life policy states, Wyze will no longer sell, improve, or maintain Wyze Cam v1.<\/p>\n

The original Wyze Cam will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we want to take a moment to say thank you. You chose to support our very first product at Wyze. You put us on the map. You allowed us to pursue our mission to democratize technology\u2026 And look at us now.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

You can continue using the Wyze Cam v1, but doing so leaves you vulnerable to hacking attempts. For that reason, Wyze suggests upgrading all of your Wyze Cam v1 units. We agree with the company\u2014leaving your security cameras vulnerable to hackers is a terrible idea<\/a>.<\/p>\n
