It\u2019s super easy to play music with your voice on Google Assistant-enabled Nest smart speakers and smart displays. But in order to link your Spotify account to the Google Assistant, you\u2019ll need to connect it with the Google Home app first. Here\u2019s how it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n

Connecting Spotify to your Google account will allow you to play music with voice commands<\/a> on speakers, displays, phones, and tablets. It\u2019s as simple as saying \u201cHey Google, play \u2018Run the Jewels\u201d or \u201cHey Google, play my \u2018Running\u2019 playlist.\u201d Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n

First, open the Google Home app on your\u00a0iPhone<\/a>,\u00a0iPad<\/a>, or\u00a0Android<\/a>\u00a0device. Tap the \u201c+\u201d icon in the top-left corner to add a service.<\/p>\n

Scroll down to \u201cMusic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here you\u2019ll see the list of available music services. Find \u201cSpotify\u201d and tap the link icon.<\/p>\n

The next screen explains that Spotify will be linked to all devices and services that use your Google account. Tap \u201cContinue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now you\u2019ll see some information about what Google and Spotify will be able to do together. Tap \u201cAgree and Continue\u201d to proceed.<\/p>\n

Next, you\u2019ll be taken to the Spotify app. Again, you\u2019ll be shown what Google and Spotify will have access to. Tap \u201cAgree\u201d if you want to continue.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it! Spotify is now linked to your Google account and will be available on Google Assistant-enabled devices<\/a>. It will now be the default music service as well. You can change that by selecting a different service on the \u201cMusic\u201d page in the Google Home app.<\/p>\n
