Marketing departments often have to adjust outdated technology systems to meet customer needs along their buying journeys while improving processes on the fly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody has one of these customer journey maps,\u201d Hannigan said. \u201cThe real trick is not in envisioning all the things you could do, but figuring out how to get practical.\u201d He discussed strategy in the id=\"h-generate-milestones-for-your-customer-journey\">Generate milestones for your customer journey<\/h2>\n<p>Hannigan recommends marketers put together what he calls \u201cgolden milestones,\u201d which are events that \u201cmust happen for your customer to get value from your offering.\u201d These can help marketers map out their goals while filling in the practical steps required to meet them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have all these different possible touchpoints, personalization points and moments of inspiration,\u201d he said. \u201cBut before that, go for the golden Many brands have come up with a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/forbescommunicationscouncil\/2021\/02\/12\/10-great-examples-of-personalized-marketing-strategies\/?sh=10aeff232dc9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">creative tactics<\/a> to meet consumers where they are. His marketing team worked with their IT department to set automation rules for personalization \u2014 keeping the aspects that worked and removing the personalized prompts that didn\u2019t fit within the customer\u2019s context.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we have 500 offers that are available at any given time, let\u2019s limit that to some level that\u2019s consumable by the customer in the channel that they are consuming it in,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the case of this customer we thought it [the channel] might potentially be a mobile app, so we wanted to limit that to two offers per member, and these were delivered while they were on site.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also recommended creating automated rulesets to ensure there were no duplicates, as well as doing your best not to look \u201cawkward\u201d: \u201cIf you know \u2014 via somebody\u2019s customer profile \u2014 that they have already reserved a rental car through you, you probably wouldn\u2019t want to serve up an offer for a rideshare and vice versa.
