by 2060, this will rise to one in three.<\/p>\n<div aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"adun\" data-pos=\"top\" data-raptor=\"falcon\" data-xsm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-sm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-md=\",fluid,mpu,\">\n            <noscript><br \/>\n                <a href=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/jump?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_software\/front&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44YelSDcs-CKtBjdRXYuPc7gAAAAI&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D4%26raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/wp-content\/themes\/breek\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/ad?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_software\/front&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44YelSDcs-CKtBjdRXYuPc7gAAAAI&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D426raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n            <\/noscript>\n        <\/div>\n<p>Green energy and digital technologies could help offset the jobs lost to automation, Forrester added.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-skill labour jobs that consist of simple, routine tasks in retail, food services, leisure, and hospitality are most at risk from automation.<\/p>\n<p>According to Forrester, &#8220;workers with little bargaining power are most at risk of displacement, especially in countries where many are subject to casual employment contracts, including zero-hour contracts in the UK, which require no guaranteed working hours, or part-time jobs with low wages, such as &#8216;mini-jobs&#8217; European organisations are also in a particularly strong position to embrace automation because of Europe&#8217;s declining working-age population and the high number of routine low-skilled jobs that can be easily automated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Automation will subsequently become integral to how European governments and employers look at their competitiveness and manage their older demographic,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Forrester said that robotic process automation (RPA) \u2013 using software to automate screen-based office tasks \u2013 was taking a lead role and growing rapidly. The RPA market was valued at $17bn in 2019, it said, while 21 per cent of European leaders said their organisation would use RPA in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Investors are certainly seeing the appeal of automation technologies. RPA specialist <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/04\/21\/uipath-rises-17percent-in-nyse-debut-after-one-of-top-software-ipos-ever.html\" rel=\"noopener\">UiPath was valued at around $35.8bn at its IPO last year<\/a>. UK RPA specialist Blue Prism <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2021\/12\/01\/blue_prism_ssandc_acquisition\/\" rel=\"noopener\">agreed to a \u00a31.243bn cash bid<\/a> by Bolt Bidco, the subsidiary of tech holdings SS&amp;C that trumped a \u00a31.1bn offer from Vista Equity Partners in December last year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, established application vendors have been conducting something of a me-too mission with regard to automation.
