On Tuesday, the 53rd annual NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced, with Apple TV+<\/a> pulling down nine nominations for its original films and series. <\/p>\n

Five Apple Original films have received nominations, including Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for stars Denzel Washington and Mahershala Ali in acclaimed Apple Original films “The Tragedy of Macbeth<\/a>” and “Swan Song<\/a>.” <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Apple also received major category nominations for Outstanding Independent Motion Picture for “CODA<\/a>,” and Outstanding Documentary for “1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything<\/a>.” In addition, Apple’s short film “Blush<\/a>” has been nominated for Outstanding Short-Form (Animated). <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Three Apple TV+ series have also received nominations. Octavia Spenser has earned a nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for “Truth Be Told<\/a>.” Alfre Woodward received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for “See<\/a>,” marking the series’ first NAACP Image Award nomination. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Also nominated this year was “Ted Lasso<\/a>,” Apple’s wildly popular sports comedy. The series received its first NAACP Image Award nominations with two nominations in the Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series category for writers Ashley Nicole Black and Leann Bowen. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The winners of the 53rd NAACP Image Awards will be announced on BET on Saturday, February 26. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Tuesday, the Visual Effects Society announced<\/a> its list of nominees for the 20th Annual VES awards, including Apple TV+ originals “Foundation” and “Finch.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
