The state of California is sending $460 million more in inflation relief<\/a> payments to low-income recipients of the CalEITC in 2023 \u2014 bringing the total to $845 million. The program provides tax credits<\/a> and cash rebates to people who qualify through participation in CalFresh (food stamps), Medi-Cal, Foster Care, or CalWORKs.<\/p>\n

Payments are based on income, filing status, and the number of dependents. Millions of Californians received their first inflationary payment this week \u2014 with many receiving $300 per child or $200 for single adults without children. They will receive a second payment on Oct. 22 and a third from the IRS by Jan 2023 with their federal income tax refunds.<\/p>\n

This program provides tax credits and cash rebates to people who qualify through participation in CalFresh (food stamps), Medi-Cal, Foster Care or CalWORKs. Payments are based on income, filing status and number of dependents.<\/p>\n

To qualify for the program, you must:<\/p>\n

  • Be a resident of California living at or below 150% of the federal poverty level;<\/li>\n
  • Have a valid Social Security number (SSN);<\/li>\n
  • Not be claimed as a dependent on another person\u2019s federal income tax return; and<\/li>\n
  • Not have received any inflationary payments from the state since January 2019.\n

    The payments are part of California\u2019s 2019-20 budget deal, which lawmakers approved in June to provide relief to low-income individuals who rely on Social Security benefits after years of stagnant payouts.<\/p>\n

    California will send $460 million more in inflation relief payments to low-income recipients of the CalEITC in 2023, according to the Franchise Tax Board.<\/p>\n

    The program provides tax credits and cash rebates to people who qualify through participation in CalFresh (food stamps), Medi-Cal, Foster Care or CalWORKs.<\/p>\n

    The funding will go toward increasing monthly payments for those eligible by $33 dollars over what they would have received under previous budget terms.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
