San Francisco-based SingleStore Inc. developed a distributed, cloud-native SQL database designed for data-heavy applications, all in a single engine. When IBM was looking into expanding its ecosystem it turned to SingleStore, ultimately forging a valuable partnership.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day,\u00a0customers are looking for an end-to-end solution\u00a0that solves their business problems,\u00a0and SingleStore is good at real-time data analytics,\u201d said Hemanth Manda<\/a> (pictured, right), head of strategic partnerships at IBM. \u201cBy partnering with them,\u00a0we can essentially address the needs of our customers, and also try to integrate our products\u00a0and solutions so we can deliver a solution\u00a0to our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manda and Shireesh Thota<\/a> (pictured, left), senior vice president of engineering at SingleStore, spoke with theCUBE hosts\u00a0John Furrier<\/a> and Savannah Peterson<\/a> at AWS re:Invent<\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed the state of modern real-time data architecture, how IBM helps SingleStore with artificial intelligence-based indexing, how it simplifies data and more. Exploiting innovation<\/h3>\n

SingleStore is a relational database, but what it does best, Thota explained, is real-time analytics. Using its own storage engine, query engine, and indexing, the database can quickly retrieve data insights as soon as it enters the system.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve innovated AI indexing in our database engine.\u00a0But we want to go further than that,\u00a0we want to be able to exploit the innovation\u00a0that\u2019s happening at IBM,\u201d Thota said. \u201cA good example is, we have a native connector with IBM Cognos and their business intelligence dashboards to reach the data\u00a0very natively, so, we built a hyper-efficient system\u00a0that moves the data efficiently.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the world becomes more complex, so does data management and infrastructure. This has spawned a need for users to simplify things, with SimpleStore\u2019s embeddable AI designed to approach this need.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are simply providing libraries. Just like you have Python and Java libraries,\u00a0now you\u2019ll have AI libraries that you can go infuse\u00a0and embed deeply within applications and solutions,\u201d Manda said. \u201cIt becomes integrated and simplistic\u00a0from the customer point of view.\u00a0From a user point of view, it\u2019s very simple to consume\u2026I think SingleStore is doing that with data,\u00a0simplifying data, and we are trying to do that with the rest of the portfolio,\u00a0specifically AI.\u201d<\/p>\n
