Industry-specific needs are leading to cloud verticalization for compliant operations, vital insights and enhanced security.<\/p>\n

The VMware Inc.\u00a0and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LTD. partnership is propelling the vertical cloud narrative, given that software as a service and platform as a service are gaining traction, according to Ranjit Bawa<\/a> (pictured, left), principal and cloud leader at Deloitte.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been working together\u00a0for close to a decade \u2026 for more horizontal clouds, we\u2019re going to start to move into vertical clouds\u00a0that support industries, sectors and sub-sectors,\u201d Bawa stated. \u201cAWS has formed a really good\u00a0foundation and a set of common frameworks\u00a0that people can use to build upon.\u00a0And then with VMware as well, we\u2019ve started to\u00a0build these vertical clouds \u2014 insurance, life sciences, healthcare, and all kinds of other sectors,\u00a0including manufacturing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bawa and Monty Bhatia<\/a> (pictured, right), vice president of global systems integrators at VMware, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts\u00a0Savannah Peterson<\/a>\u00a0and Paul Gillin<\/a>\u00a0at the recent\u00a0AWS re:Invent<\/a>\u00a0conference, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed how VMware and Deloitte are enhancing the vertical cloud sector for industry-specific objectives.\u00a0(* Disclosure below.)<\/em><\/p>\n

The multicloud trend<\/h3>\n

The huge disruptions happening in the enterprise world have led to a multicloud approach, and VMware is well positioned in this space, with Deloitte being a system integrator, according to Bhatia.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a technology standpoint, one of the biggest trends that we are seeing \u2026 two years ago, when you looked at it, it was all about hyperscaler, public cloud, cloud first,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cNow we\u2019re seeing more of a multicloud approach.\u00a0We\u2019re seeing that pull back towards hybrid cloud and supercloud. So that\u2019s a big trend we\u2019re seeing\u00a0around the multicloud and the modern application space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through the VMware-Deloitte partnership, vertical clouds become a reality based on the technology stacks incorporated, according to Bhatia, who said that AWS helps with the scalability aspect.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do have some capability built around industries, but that\u2019s where our partnership with Deloitte is very\u00a0important to us because they have all these industry clouds,\u201d he pointed out. \u201cWe have the tech platform that provides that.\u00a0And then [with] three-way partnerships with hyperscalers like AWS, we can bring the scale and everything together\u00a0to serve our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n
