What\u2019s scary is that you\u2019re not the only vendor waiting with bated breath for answers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll want to avoid situations where you might end up losing the deal because:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You lack relationships with executive-level decision-makers<\/li>\n<li>They lack faith in your level of commitment or are unconvinced of your credentials<\/li>\n<li>Unclear and ineffective strategies to address risk and cost factors<\/li>\n<li>Inability to articulate a compelling value proposition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are other reasons why <strong>account-based planning<\/strong> is essential.\u00a0 They can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Effectively implement winning strategies<\/li>\n<li>Provide a sense of direction<\/li>\n<li>Help you focus on realistic objectives<\/li>\n<li>Measure feasibility<\/li>\n<li>Ensure alignment between teams and departments<\/li>\n<li>Calculate probabilities of success<\/li>\n<li>Manage resources<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate control<\/li>\n<li>Reduce uncertainty and risk<\/li>\n<li>Validate areas where you\u2019re better than the competition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sales Opportunities Planning <\/strong>is also an excellent way to help you decide if the sale is worth winning.\u00a0 For example, the <strong>buying center <\/strong>said something during negotiations that made you re-evaluate the costs VS benefits of the sale. <\/strong>They\u2019re able to articulate why your solution is important.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why now? <\/strong>They\u2019re able to articulate why your solution is urgent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why us? <\/strong>They\u2019re able to articulate why your solution is the best choice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why trust? <\/strong>They\u2019re able to articulate why they should believe in your offer, your company, and you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Identifying The Buyer &amp; Their Buyer Type<\/h3>\n<p>There are many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.callboxinc.com\/growth-hacking\/close-multi-million-enterprise-software-deals\/#:~:text=Identifying%20the%20Buyer%20Roles\">buyer roles<\/a> but we\u2019ll be focusing on four of the major ones that are likely to buy and advocate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Champion<\/strong><br \/>A referral or someone who recommended your product\/services. Their influence depends on their seniority. They are your best allies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Power User<\/strong><br \/>The person using your product\/service. Also known as the end user. They may or may not be C-level but their reviews could make or break you.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Decider<\/strong><br \/>This is someone who is focused on the ROI and the cost of the solution.\u00a0 Also known as the <strong>budget holder <\/strong>that will pay for the whole thing and gives the final approval for your deal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Techie<\/strong><br \/>Is literally the tech guy. They will make sure your product\/service works with the infrastructure or if it can be customized to do so. You must conform to them instead of the other way around.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These buyer roles are often specifically found in program managers, marketing communications, CEOs, contracting, and information technology.\u00a0 You can frame your propositions in terms of their problem, made more effective by identifying their buyer roles, which can go like this, <strong>\u201cFor [buyer role], we can solve [pain point].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Buyers give themselves away by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding how your solution affects their organization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Pointing out the people in their organization who will need to be involved in the buying decision<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Sharing the timeline and budget allocated to solve their business problem<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Objections, Competition, and The Status Quo<\/h3>\n<p>Too many salespeople are putting value in the objections that they hear.\u00a0 Instead, you want to dig into <strong>why your buyers are making the objections in the first place<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Why will your buyer do nothing?<\/li>\n<li>What is the biggest objection you\u2019ll face?<\/li>\n<li>Who are your competitors?<\/li>\n<li>How will you address all of this?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Do you know the tried and true method of getting someone to decide on something by making them think it was their idea?\u00a0 Your targets will be less resistant if you can lead them to<strong> state the problem<\/strong> and not overwhelm them with a scripted monologue to overcome their objections.\u00a0 They\u2019ve heard it all before, and they are more likely to tune you out.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Asking them to identify their pain points out loud makes it easier to address them in a conversation.<\/p>\n<p>For example, we asked a client what concerns he had about a product and he said that they previously bought a cheaper one that didn\u2019t meet their expectations.\u00a0 And we asked him again, \u201dDid the quality of the product suffer because of the price?\u201d\u00a0 We got his attention and incited his curiosity!\u00a0 \u201cWhat makes your product so much better then?\u201d\u00a0 He inevitably asked.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, we did our homework\u2013 prepared the <strong>data <\/strong>and the <strong>numbers<\/strong>, so we can satisfy his need to know more.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/salesinsightslab.com\/sales-research\/\">Sales Insights Lab<\/a> states, <strong>\u201cTop performers don\u2019t talk less, but they get prospects to talk more!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"580\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/wp-content\/themes\/breek\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.callboxinc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Sales-calls-stats.webp?x31676\" alt=\"Sales calls stats\" class=\"wp-image-83943\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.callboxinc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Sales-calls-stats.webp 580w, https:\/\/www.callboxinc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Sales-calls-stats-300x207.webp 300w\" data-sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>There is a slight, almost negligible, difference in how much a top-performing rep would talk compared to the others.\u00a0 What\u2019s really happening here is that a top performer\u2019s conversations are much more <strong>engaging<\/strong>, thus making the buyer invested in keeping the communication going and making them talk more than you do!<\/p>\n<p>Profile your competition, the client\u2019s biggest objection, and\/or the status quo in the Sales Opportunity Canvas to be prepared for those roadblocks when it comes up.<\/p>\n<h3>Stages Of The Sale<\/h3>\n<p>Where are you at in the opportunity stage of the sale?<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\">\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td\/>\n<td>Stage 1: Needs Analysis<br \/>What are the early warning signals in your account-based sales process?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>What happens here?<\/td>\n<td>This is where your value propositions are offered and where the buyer\u2019s initial questions and objections happen.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Strategies to use<\/td>\n<td>\u2013 Customer discovery: Confirm, ask, explore<br \/>\u2013 Do not monologue to the prospect.
