He criticized the regime, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2021\/01\/05\/jack_ma_missing\/\" rel=\"noopener\">disappeared from public view<\/a> for several months.<\/p>\n<p>Under the optimization plan, Ma, who effectively controls more than half of Ant Group, sees his role shrink as he becomes one of ten major shareholders and sees his holding reduced to around six percent. It did not, however, give a timeline for the outlined changes.
