Over the past couple of weeks, we\u2019ve written about the top games of 2022, both from Canadian teams<\/a> and developers worldwide<\/a>, as well as\u00a0Canadian games to look forward to in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, though, we want to hear what you<\/em> think. With the start of the new year comes the promise of all kinds of new games. 2023, in particular, is poised to be the year this current-gen of consoles really comes alive. Between the likes of the PS5-only\u00a0Final Fantasy XVI<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(June) and Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man 2<\/a> <\/em>(fall) or Bethesda Xbox Series X\/S titles Starfield <\/em>and Redfall<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(first half of 2023), it should finally feel as though the industry is moving past the nearly 10-year-old PS4 and Xbox One.<\/p>\n

In a similar vein, Nintendo is finally set to release The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom <\/em><\/a>in May, a sequel to\u00a0the beloved\u00a0Breath of the Wild\u00a0<\/em>that the Switch actually launched with way back in March 2017.\u00a0Other big games include February\u2019s\u00a0Hogwarts Legacy<\/a>, <\/em>March\u2019s Resident Evil 4 <\/em>remake<\/a>,\u00a0May\u2019s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League <\/em><\/a>and Diablo IV<\/a>, <\/em>and June\u2019s Street Fighter VI<\/a>. <\/em>The PlayStation VR2 is also launching next month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s to say nothing of smaller indie titles, including the likes of the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(TBA 2023),\u00a0Jet Set Radio<\/em>-esque Bomb Rush Cyberpunk<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(summer), South-Asia-meets-Scott-Pilgrim\u00a0Thirsty Suitors<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(TBA 2023) and Quebec City-based Sabotage\u2019s Chrono Trigger<\/em>-inspired\u00a0Sea of Stars<\/em><\/a> (first half of 2023).<\/p>\n

Personally, the first two games I mentioned are my most anticipated. Two of my favourite things, period, are\u00a0Final Fantasy<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and Spider-Man<\/a>, and getting big new PS5 titles from both franchises in the same year is beyond exciting. As a big JRPG fan, Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>is likewise hitting all of the right notes so far. March\u2019s Star Wars<\/em> Jedi: Survivor<\/em><\/a>, meanwhile, looks like an excellent sequel to 2019\u2019s\u00a0Jedi: Fallen Order. Replaced<\/a><\/em>, a 2.5D cyberpunk action game, also seems rad.<\/p>\n

Of course, more games will be revealed throughout 2023, especially at both E3 and Summer Game Fest in June<\/a>. For now, though,\u00a0what are you most excited to play this year? Let us know in the comments.<\/p>\n
