They also used the chatbot to build backdoor malware that can dynamically run scripts created by the AI tool. The writer showed the code of a Python-based information stealer that searches for and copies file types and uploads them to a hardcoded FTP server.<\/p>\n<p>Check Point confirmed that the code was from a basic stealer malware.<\/p>\n<div aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"adun\" id=\"story_eagle_xsm_sm_md_xmd_lg_xlg\" data-pos=\"mid\" data-raptor=\"eagle\" data-xsm=\",mpu,dmpu,\" data-sm=\",mpu,dmpu,\" data-md=\",mpu,dmpu,\" data-xmd=\",mpu,dmpu,\" data-lg=\",mpu,dmpu,\" data-xlg=\",mpu,dmpu,\">\n            <noscript><br \/>\n                <a href=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/jump?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_software\/aiml&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=3&amp;c=33Y7iCpetm4@qu2G8CFWUEewAAAMk&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D3%26raptor%3Deagle%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/ad?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_software\/aiml&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=3&amp;c=33Y7iCpetm4@qu2G8CFWUEewAAAMk&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D3%26raptor%3Deagle%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n                <\/a><br \/>\n            <\/noscript>\n        <\/div>\n<p>In another sample, the writer used ChatGPT to create a simple Java snippet that downloads a common SSH and telnet client that is run secretly on a system using PowerShell.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This individual seems to be a tech-oriented threat actor, and the purpose of his posts is to show less technically capable cybercriminals how to utilize ChatGPT for malicious purposes, with real examples they can immediately use,&#8221; the researchers wrote.<\/p>\n<p>On December 21, a person calling themselves USDoD posted an encryption tool written in Python that includes various encryption, decryption, and signing operations. He wrote that OpenAI&#8217;s technology gave him a &#8220;nice [helping] hand to finish the script with a nice scope.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The researchers wrote that USDoD has limited development skills but is active in the underground community with a history of selling access to compromised organizations and stolen databases.<\/p>\n<p>Another discussion thread published on a forum on New Year&#8217;s Eve talked about how easy it is to use ChatGPT to create a dark web marketplace to trade illegal tools like malware or drugs and stolen data like accounts and payment cards.<\/p>\n<p>The thread&#8217;s writer published some code created with ChatGPT that uses third-party APIs to get up-to-date prices for such cryptocurrency as Bitcoin, Monero, and Ethereum for the marketplace&#8217;s payment system.<\/p>\n<p>This week, miscreants talked on underground forums about other ways to leverage ChatGPT for various schemes, including using it with OpenAI&#8217;s Dall-E 2 technology to create art to sell online through legitimate sites like Etsy and creating an ebook or short chapter on a specific topic that can be sold online.<\/p>\n<p>To get more information about how ChatGPT can be abused, the researchers asked ChatGPT.
