By empowering developers to move faster and be more productive through\u00a0built-in security<\/a>, Snyk Ltd. is eradicating the shift-left narrative and scaling modern AppSec from the onset.<\/p>\n

Developers are now being handed the security mantle, according to Adi Sharabani<\/a> (pictured, left), chief technology officer of Snyk.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeveloper is the king, and so the root cause of Snyk success, in my opinion,\u00a0is the fact that from the get-go,\u00a0we build a solution for the developer\u00a0that is based on the workflows of the developer,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cWhether it\u2019s the ID,\u00a0the change management, the pull request, integration with the Gits, integration with the cloud\u00a0and the interaction with the cloud providers, that\u2019s kind of the secret sauce, in a sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sharabani and Manoj Nair<\/a> (pictured, right), chief product officer of Snyk, spoke with theCUBE hosts\u00a0Lisa Martin<\/a>\u00a0and John Furrier<\/a> at\u00a0AWS re:Invent<\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed why security should be embedded in developers\u2019 workflows and how Snyk fits into the picture.\u00a0(* Disclosure below.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Developer speed and safety are at the heart of Snyk<\/h3>\n

As developer velocity continues to increase, Snyk\u2019s focus is not finding, but fixing issues, according to Nair, who said that security comes in the form of guardrails.<\/p>\n

\u201cDevelopers love speed; we give them the speed,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cWe give the security teams the ability\u00a0to sit on those towers\u00a0and \u2026 put the right policies\u00a0and guardrails in place to make sure\u00a0that it\u2019s not speed without safety.\u201d<\/p>\n

The enhanced velocity in applications is necessitating a cultural change where security and development teams have to be intertwined. This ensures the security perspective is not left behind, given that there are 30 million developers globally, according to Sharabani.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe culture is changing,\u201d he noted. \u201cI had a discussion with a Fortune 50 CISO a month ago,\u00a0and they told me, \u2018Adi, it\u2019s the first time in my life\u00a0where the development teams are coming to me,\u00a0asking me, hey, I want you to buy us this security solution.\u2019\u00a0And that was mind-blowing for him because it really changes the discussion\u00a0with the security teams and the development teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
