SingleStore Inc. looks to propel real-time insights through the unification concept, and its Universal Storage helps with this objective, according to Domenic Ravita<\/a> (pictured), vice president of developer relations at SingleStore.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor SingleStore that\u2019s our specialty, in particular, to unify transactions and analytics\u00a0for real-time applications and analytics,\u201d Ravita said. \u201cAt SingleStore we completed the functionality\u00a0for what we call Universal Storage,\u00a0which is the industry\u2019s first third type of storage,\u00a0after row store and column store. SingleStoreDB\u2019s Universal Storage unifies those.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ravita spoke with theCUBE host\u00a0Lisa Martin<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0AWS re:Invent<\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed how SingleStore makes the unification concept a reality by integrating analytical and transactional data for real-time insights.\u00a0(* Disclosure below.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Aan all-in-one solution<\/h3>\n

Citing a use case for its approach to data unification, SingleStore helped Fathom Analytics to be a privacy-first alternative to Google Analytics, according to Ravita,\u00a0 after SingleStore replaced four of its databases.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can you keep up\u00a0with that real-time deluge of clickstream data\u00a0at the rate that Google Analytics can do it?\u201d he asked. \u201cAnd Fathom\u2019s answer to that is to use SingleStore.\u00a0Their prior architecture had four different types\u00a0of database technologies under the hood.\u00a0They were using Redis for rapid retime cache.\u00a0They were using MySQL database\u00a0as the application database.\u00a0They were using Elasticsearch to do a full tech search.\u00a0And they were using DynamoDB\u00a0as part of another kind of fast lookup, fast cache.\u201d<\/p>\n

The recently revealed Amazon Web Services\u2019 Aurora zero-ETL integration with Amazon Redshift will enhance SingleStore\u2019s quest of rendering real-time analytics, Ravita pointed out. This level of integration could further propel the data management ecosystem for cloud-native environments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are cases where, you know,\u00a0it\u2019s a common thing to need to move data\u00a0from transactional systems to analytic systems,\u00a0and making that easy with zero-ETL \u2014 I think that\u2019s a step in the right direction for AWS,\u00a0and I think for the market as a whole,\u201d said Ravita.<\/p>\n
