Fragmented, siloed data is slowing down business for organizations across the board, because the relationships between people, products and their companies can\u2019t be clearly sourced if data is isolated in traditional repositories.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to stitch it together in order to create that holistic, 360-degree view,\u201d said Manish Sood<\/a> (pictured), founder, chairman and chief executive officer of cloud-first data management platform Reltio Inc. Without that it\u2019s not possible to make breakthroughs in solving problems.<\/p>\n

Sood spoke with theCUBE hosts\u00a0John Furrier<\/a> and Savannah Peterson<\/a> at AWS re:Invent<\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed the acceleration of unified data by breaking down solos. (* Disclosure below.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Thousands of applications, one big problem<\/h3>\n

The growing number of software applications across an organization is part of the problem, according to Sood. \u201cIn the early 2000s having six different applications across the enterprise landscape was considered complex. Now, those same organizations are talking about 400, 500, a thousand different applications that they\u2019re using to run their business end to end,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Sood reckons access to clean, consistent, and trusted information should be considered imperative, noting that although the need for digital transformation was clear to many businesses, clean data wasn\u2019t always prioritized.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a mainstream concept, but people were struggling with it because the whole notion of garbage-in, garbage-out was becoming clearer to them as they started running into hurdles,\u201d Sood explained.<\/p>\n

This is becoming more obvious as data becomes a strategic asset, he elaborated. \u201cIf you really want to move faster with your business, you have to think about how to use data as a strategic asset and think about things differently.\u201d<\/p>\n
