Four ambulances were rushed to the scene.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tesla driver blames self-driving mode for 8-vehicle crash on Bay Bridge\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gG2joDBwvUk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Tesla in question was a Model S, and it was reportedly travelling at roughly 55 mph (88.5 km\/h) before making a sudden and unsafe lane change and unexpectedly braking, causing the vehicle to slow down to 20 mph (32 km\/h).<\/p>\n<p>The abrupt braking caused the vehicles behind the Tesla to crash into one another.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalifornia Highway Patrol said in the Dec. 7 report that it could not confirm if \u201cfull self-driving\u201d was active at the time of the crash. A highway patrol spokesperson told<em> CNN Business<\/em> on Wednesday that it would not determine if \u201cfull self-driving\u201d was active, and Tesla would have that information,\u201d wrote <em>CNN<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting that Tesla\u2019s Full Self-Driving software is already under investigation by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in regard to a Model S accident that left three passengers dead.
