{"id":25032,"date":"2022-12-21T14:44:42","date_gmt":"2022-12-21T14:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/index.php\/2022\/12\/21\/microsoft-offers-commercial-customers-teams-premium-preview\/"},"modified":"2022-12-21T14:44:42","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T14:44:42","slug":"microsoft-offers-commercial-customers-teams-premium-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/index.php\/2022\/12\/21\/microsoft-offers-commercial-customers-teams-premium-preview\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Offers Commercial Customers Teams Premium Preview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/go.fiverr.com\/visit\/?bta=1052423&nci=17043\" Target=\"_Top\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/wp-content\/themes\/breek\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/fiverr.ck-cdn.com\/tn\/serve\/?cid=40081059\"  width=\"601\" height=\"201\"><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Microsoft has announced a hands-on preview for the commercial customers of its new Teams Premium product designed to make meetings more personal, intelligent, and secure.<\/p>\n<p>The premium product includes several slick features, such as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-right: 40px;\">\n<li>Use of artificial intelligence to provide live translation and intelligent recaps of meetings with autogenerated chapters and suggested action items and insights;<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding: 5px 0px;\">Advanced protections with the use of watermarks, end-to-end encryption, and sensitivity labels to block copying and pasting of chat sessions;<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding: 5px 0px;\">Tools for creating and managing high-quality webinars;<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding: 5px 0px;\">A Virtual Appointment dashboard for controlling the virtual appointment experience from end-to-end; and<\/li>\n<li>Ability to extend a company\u2019s image across meetings by branding backgrounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis is an opportunity for Microsoft to open up monetization opportunities beyond Microsoft 365,\u201d observed Ross Rubin, the principal analyst at <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reticleresearch.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Reticle Research<\/a>, a consumer technology advisory firm in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll get a baseline level of functionality, but there\u2019ll be more functionality at a higher price tier,\u201d Rubin told TechNewsWorld.<\/p>\n<h3>Race for AI Solutions<\/h3>\n<p>The AI features do several things not done at meetings, such as provide outlines, notes, and translations for their audience, observed Rob Enderle, president and principal analyst at the <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.enderlegroup.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Enderle Group<\/a>, an advisory services firm in Bend, Ore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI expect this AI component will be the defining difference between platforms in the future,\u201d he told TechNewsWorld. \u201cThe powerful conferencing solutions seem to be racing to see who can provide the most powerful AI-based solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Microsoft Teams Premium Experiences and How to Set It Up\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zcfcDH4FbVo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Intelligent Recap holds a lot of promise for helping organizations get the most out of meetings, maintained J. P. Gownder, a vice president and principal analyst at <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/go.forrester.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Forrester Research<\/a>, a national market research company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToo often, follow-ups and action items are forgotten after a meeting,\u201d Gownder told TechNewsWorld. \u201cPeople who missed the meeting struggle to find out the value of the meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIntelligent Recap promises to automate the process of extracting follow-ups, action items, and the content of the meeting,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt will take some time to learn from real-world meetings, but it promises to increase the value of meetings and link them to business actions.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>More Efficient Meetings<\/h3>\n<p>In some ways, the new tools in Teams Premium make virtual meetings more efficient than in-person meetings, noted Michael Inouye, a principal analyst at <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abiresearch.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ABI Research<\/a>, a global technology intelligence firm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy more efficient, I mean making accessing information from past meetings and managing follow-ups more streamlined and easier,\u201d Inouye told TechNewsWorld.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that in an in-person meeting, any work on a whiteboard might not make it into the meeting notes. Similarly, note-taking is often not shared between participants or could be idiosyncratic to an individual\u2019s note-taking style.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreating chapters and tagging the recorded meetings makes searching through archives much more efficient,\u201d he continued. \u201cRather than trying to recall the date a particular meeting took place by checking your notes, you could search for the topic of interest or other information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese tools could also benefit in-person meetings as well, as those conversations could be recorded and processed in a similar manner, so it isn\u2019t exclusive to virtual,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<h3>Features Too Good for Paywall<\/h3>\n<p>The new security features in Teams Premium have also attracted praise. \u201cThe security enhancements like copy\/paste control and E2E encryption for groups are all excellent,\u201d said Forrester analyst Will McKeon-White.<\/p>\n<p>However, he did question confining the features to a premium offering. \u201cIt\u2019s odd these are partitioned outside the standard Teams platform,\u201d he told TechNewsWorld.<\/p>\n<p>McKeon-White also had kudos for Teams Premium\u2019s webinar addition. \u201cThe webinar offering is much needed from a competition standpoint and will help organizations further consolidate on one offering,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While lauding the product\u2019s translation feature, he also lamented its limits. \u201cLive translation is going to be transformative for how organizations communicate,\u201d he predicted. \u201cIt\u2019s a shame to see this shift inside a paywall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<p>                    <!--ps: 55 crid: 10799:a-nice_q422_970-1s cc: s_c:10810,10808,10799,10726 px:0--><\/p>\n<div class=\"cls-1671633881\">\n<div class=\"wa-ad-display-wrap wa-ads-55\" style=\"display: inline-block;\" data-adposition=\"55\" data-adname=\"TNW-STORY-1\">\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\" onclick=\"ENN_ad_wo(10799,'16716338818121','ca56b38edc'); return false; \"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/wp-content\/themes\/breek\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ectnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/11\/nice-cxone-q422-970x250-1.jpg\" width=\"970\" height=\"250\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Enhance your omnichannel service strategies with data-driven insights.\"\/><\/a> <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <!--\/ps: 55 crid: 10799:a-nice_q422_970-1s cc: --><\/center><\/p>\n<p>One feature of Teams Premium that seems to be drawing mixed reviews is its branding feature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find the branding-focused features to be interesting and potentially differentiating versus solutions from Zoom and Cisco,\u201d observed Mark N. Vena, president and principal analyst at <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smarttechresearch.net\/\" rel=\"noopener\">SmartTech Research<\/a> in San Jose, Calif.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt appears that Microsoft is headed down a more personalized experience with the Premium version of Teams, which I think will be useful,\u201d Vena told TechNewsWorld.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ability to create a more customized experience will be valued by some users, and I think the capability to add your brand will be valued by users who create video podcasts or conduct webinars,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h3>Ahead of Its Time<\/h3>\n<p>While an interesting idea, the brand extension feature may be problematic, asserted Enderle. \u201cUsing a tool like this to advance a brand requires marketing to have a direct say in the result, which doesn\u2019t appear to be the case here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be like providing a medical tool without medical oversight,\u201d he explained. \u201cI don\u2019t think you can do a brand feature without embedding marketing deeply into the resulting process. That isn\u2019t the case here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Branding isn\u2019t typically prioritized in virtual types of communication and collaboration, added Inouye. \u201cFurther down the road, if virtual C&amp;C becomes more immersive or more generally pervasive, then I could see this becoming more valuable,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis one may be a bit ahead of its time,\u201d he continued. \u201cNo harm done, but it likely won\u2019t be a key selling point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inouye maintained that Teams Premium\u00a0should help Microsoft\u2019s standing in the communication and collaboration market. However, he added, \u201d It is hard to say if it will shift the competitive landscape in a meaningful way, at least not yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompanies have scaled back on virtual events, meaning a company may see less value from a more integrated solution,\u201d he explained. \u201cGoing with a third party for a handful of events may be just as good of an alternative as the more integrated solution.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Word of Caution<\/h3>\n<p>Vena contended that Microsoft is playing catch-up in the video conferencing space as Zoom became the market leader over the course of the pandemic, focusing on ease of use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Zoom continues to have detractors over security concerns, and Microsoft has a perceived advantage when it comes to protecting privacy,\u201d he said. \u201cThis new solution should move the ball forward in raising Teams\u2019 appeal, particularly with enterprise and SMB users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<p>                    <!--ps: 55 crid: 10810:a-bloomreach-dec22_970-1s cc: s_c:10810,10808,10799,10726 px:0--><\/p>\n<div class=\"cls-1671633881\">\n<div class=\"wa-ad-display-wrap wa-ads-55\" style=\"display: inline-block;\" data-adposition=\"55\" data-adname=\"TNW-STORY-1\">\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\" onclick=\"ENN_ad_wo(10810,'16716338814933','3efc1655e6'); return false; \"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/wp-content\/themes\/breek\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ectnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/12\/bloomreach-dec22-970x250-1.png\" width=\"970\" height=\"250\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Crank Up Your E-Commerce Search With Day Zero Learnings\"\/><\/a> <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <!--\/ps: 55 crid: 10810:a-bloomreach-dec22_970-1s cc: --><\/center><\/p>\n<p>McKeon-White added that all the enhancements are logical and value-adds for the Teams platform. \u201cMy biggest issue with the Microsoft approach here is partitioning them behind a paywall,\u201d he observed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny time AI\/ML features are partitioned outside a platform, it provides an opening for competitors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot to like in this rollout, as Microsoft continues to evolve its AI to deliver more valuable features, noted Wayne Kurtzman, research vice president for collaboration and communities at <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">IDC<\/a>, a global market research company.<\/p>\n<p>However, he cautioned: \u201cMicrosoft will need to add more benefits to retain the Premium value, as some of their competitors are likely to include some of these features in their base product.
