The best way to prepare for the Stimulus Check is by tracking your spending and saving habits throughout the year so that when it comes time to file taxes, you have enough documentation available to help estimate what kind of payment you could expect from this program.<\/p>\n

Stimulus Check For Golden State<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

When California\u2019s economic stimulus checks arrived in people\u2019s mailboxes last week, they were supposed to help prop up the state\u2019s faltering economy. But instead of making it into their intended hands, a large number of them have gone astray.<\/p>\n

When I say \u201castray,\u201d I mean that the checks have been sent to the wrong bank accounts, meaning some families are not receiving their money at all while others are getting double-paid because they\u2019ve received two checks. In a situation like this one\u2014where people are being denied money they\u2019ve earned\u2014it makes sense that tempers would flare and accusations fly about who is responsible for such an error: The banks? The state? Both?<\/p>\n

California\u2019s stimulus checks are being sent to the wrong bank accounts.<\/p>\n

The checks are being sent to bank accounts that do not belong to the recipients. They belong to people who have the same name as the recipient, but are not related in any way. The DMV did not verify whether or not these people actually owned those bank accounts before sending them out as part of California\u2019s stimulus program. There is no easy way to fix this problem since it is happening so quickly and there isn\u2019t enough time for people at the DMV or other agencies involved with California\u2019s stimulus program to make sure that each check goes where it was intended (i.e., into an account owned by its rightful owner).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
