Businesses are moving to multicloud adoption, with 81% of\u00a0HashiCorp Inc.\u2019s \u201cState of Cloud Strategy Survey 2022\u201d<\/a>\u00a0respondents reporting using more than one cloud, with larger organizations more likely to use multicloud solutions.<\/p>\n

Palo Alto Networks Inc. and HashiCorp Inc. recently released an updated cloud operating model, allowing users to use products across thousands of enterprises.<\/p>\n

\u201cPalo Alto is focused on multicloud, and so are we \u2014 we focus on\u00a0cloud infrastructure automation and ensuring that customers are able to bring in agility,\u00a0reliability, security and be able to deliver to their business,\u201d said Asvin Ramesh<\/a> (pictured), senior director for alliances at HashiCorp. \u201cPalo Alto brings in great security components to that multicloud story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ramesh spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Lisa Martin<\/a> and Dave Vellante<\/a> at Ignite \u201922<\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed why organizations are embracing multicloud solutions, why it\u2019s working well for those using it, zero-trust security and more. (* Disclosure below.)<\/em><\/p>\n

One is the loneliest number<\/h3>\n

HashiCorp sees its users progressing through three different stages, with the first stage being the initial phases of their cloud journey and when they begin to try out the cloud and test its capabilities, according to Ramesh. The second stage consists of HashiCorp helping its users through the process of adopting a multicloud solution and standardizing their operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe third stage that we see\u00a0is when they start embracing their private cloud\u00a0or data center\u00a0and have the same principles addressed\u00a0across both public clouds and on-prem data center and Terraform scale for any infrastructure,\u201d Ramesh added.\u00a0\u201cOnce you start to put these practices in place, not just from a technology standpoint, but from a process and product standpoint,\u00a0you\u2019re easily able to scale\u00a0with that central platform organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

Security is a big concern for those looking to adopt multicloud solutions, with C-suite executives understandably weary about increased potential points of failure. To ease these worries, HashiCorp implemented a zero-trust solution, using automated processes to authenticate everything that comes through.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe partner both on the Prisma Cloud and the Cortex XSOAR side around our products\u00a0of Vault and Consul.\u00a0What Vault does is it allows you to control and store secrets,\u201d Ramesh said. \u201cA Prisma Cloud or a Cortex customer\u00a0can be using secrets from Vault\u00a0familiarly for that particular transaction\u00a0or workflow itself. It\u2019s based on identity and not based on just the secret.\u201d<\/p>\n
