The country has also <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2021\/12\/16\/india_semiconductor_mission\/\" rel=\"noopener\">created<\/a> a $10 billion subsidy scheme to lure semiconductor manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p>India-based multinational mining company Vedanta has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2022\/02\/14\/foxconn_vedanta_india_chip_factory_jv\/\" rel=\"noopener\">teamed<\/a> with Foxconn to build a semiconductor manufacturing facility under the $10 billion scheme.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, India&#8217;s Ministry of Electronics and IT <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=1881416\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed<\/a> the cost of that commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Foxconn and Vedanta will receive a 40 percent capital subsidy, power at the bargain rate of two rupees per unit for ten years, plus an exemption from electricity duty.<\/p>\n<div aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"adun\" data-pos=\"top\" data-raptor=\"falcon\" data-xsm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-sm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-md=\",fluid,mpu,\">\n            <noscript><br \/>\n                <a href=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/jump?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_onprem\/systems&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44Y5Liccf7eY9qQSf0EZAf5AAAAIo&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D4%26raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/ad?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_onprem\/systems&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44Y5Liccf7eY9qQSf0EZAf5AAAAIo&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D426raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n                <\/a><br \/>\n            <\/noscript>\n        <\/div>\n<p>The pair will also receive 50 percent of the cost to build a desalination plant, plus subsidised access to water.<\/p>\n<p>The first 200 acres of land the companies buy will be subsidized by 75 percent. Any more land the pair acquire will see India&#8217;s government stump up half the cost.<\/p>\n<p>But wait: there&#8217;s more.
