We\u2019re barreling toward the end of 2022, and yearly recaps are abound. But while you dig into your Spotify Wrapped<\/a>, Google Search is taking a look at the year\u2019s most trendy search terms. The results may not surprise you, but they\u2019re pretty entertaining.<\/p>\n

A new Year in Search 2022<\/a> landing page lets you see the trendiest search terms at a global scale. You can even filter the results by region, focusing in on the trending searches of the\u00a0United States<\/a>, Mexico<\/a>, Hong Kong<\/a>, the Philippines<\/a>, and more.<\/p>\n

Here are the top five global search terms of 2022:<\/p>\n

  1. Wordle<\/li>\n
  2. India vs England<\/li>\n
  3. Ukraine<\/li>\n
  4. Queen Elizabeth<\/li>\n
  5. Ind vs SA<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Interestingly, only two of these terms managed to crack the top five list in the United States. And nearly every English-speaking country went crazy for Wordle<\/em>\u2014a trend that could continue into 2023.<\/p>\n

    The Year in Search page also includes results for Google\u2019s \u201calternative\u201d search methods, such as Lens, Assistant, and Hum to Search. For example, tabby cats and garden roses were very popular subjects for Lens (my guess is that people test this tool once and forget about it), while the song \u201cPasoori<\/a>\u201d managed to lead the charge in Google\u2019s Hum to Search results.<\/p>\n
