The reach of digitization and business transformation has expanded to span a wide gamut as industries such as manufacturing and raw material extraction get in on the action.<\/p>\n

Cloud, it appears, is now moving toward enabling specific industry capabilities across disparate areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see the evolution of industry cloud a little<\/span>\u00a0differently and a lot more dynamic,\u201d said\u00a0Karthik Narain<\/a>\u00a0(pictured, left), lead for Accenture Cloud First at Accenture PLC. \u201cWe see this<\/span>\u00a0as a marketplace where an ecosystem of capabilities are<\/span>\u00a0going to come together to interact with a common data platform,<\/span>\u00a0backbone and model with workflows that\u2019ll come<\/span>\u00a0together and integrate all of this stuff and help clients<\/span>\u00a0reinvent their industry with newer capabilities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Narain and Tanuja Randery<\/a>\u00a0(pictured, right), managing director for EMEA at Amazon Web Services Inc., spoke with theCUBE industry analyst\u00a0John Furrier\u00a0<\/a>at the <\/span>AWS Executive Summit at re:Invent<\/span><\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed the proliferation of industry-specific cloud demand and the subsequent use cases. <\/span>(* Disclosure below.)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The \u2018industry cloud\u2019 paradigm<\/h3>\n

As cloud technologies evolve, the implementation of industrial cloud as a separate strategic tenet will become commonplace, according to Narain.\u00a0But, interestingly, the numbers show that 90% of organizational workloads are yet to be moved to the cloud, according to Randery. A litany of factors and variables, such as disparate infrastructures, are behind it. The first step to cloudifying workloads at a bigger scale and accelerating these industry-focused cloud solutions is the complete unification of business and IT, she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means starting with business use cases,<\/span>\u00a0whether that\u2019s digital banking or smart connected factories,\u201d Randery said. \u201cTaking those use cases and<\/span>\u00a0leveraging them to really drive outcomes\u00a0with the technology behind them is the\u00a0key unlock that we have to get to.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A major example of this is AWS\u2019 work with Ryanair DAC<\/a>\u00a0in estimating on-air food requirements for passengers, according to Randery.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we work with them leveraging AWS cloud and<\/span>\u00a0AI\/ML to build a \u2018panini predictor,’\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>And in essence, it\u2019s taking the data<\/span>\u00a0they\u2019ve got and data we\u2019ve got and actually giving them<\/span>\u00a0the opportunity to have just the right number of paninis.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
