The DJI Mini 2<\/a>\u00a0is one of the most affordable drones for beginners, but it\u2019s also over two years old. And when the Mini 3 Pro arrived in June<\/a> it was priced higher than many expected, at nearly $700. However, a new leak suggests the budget drone you wanted could be coming soon.<\/p>\n

According to newly leaked images and details on Twitter, the DJI Mini 3 could be getting ready to land. The often-reliable drone leaker\u00a0@DealsDrone<\/a> posted the photos and said the Mini 3 is coming soon.\u00a0That\u2019s on top of the same device clearing the FCC<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n

And while we can\u2019t gather too many details from these images, it does reveal a few things combined with previous releases from the company.<\/p>\n

As expected, the DJI Mini 3 (if that\u2019s the name) will be a paired-down version of the Mini 3 Pro, albeit in the same overall package. By that, we mean it\u2019ll have a very similar design, style, and housing.<\/p>\n

The main difference between the two is the shape and location of the two sensors above the camera, suggesting DJI ditched obstacle avoidance to keep the price down. For what it\u2019s worth, the original Mini and Mini 2 didn\u2019t have high-end avoidance options either.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the leaked images and FCC details suggest it\u2019ll have the same camera as the more expensive DJI Mini 3 Pro. And while we\u2019re not sure if it\u2019ll be able to rotate for portrait-mode videos, it\u2019ll definitely be an improvement over the previous generation.<\/p>\n

Initially, the DJI Mini 2 arrived at $449, making it highly affordable. And while we\u2019re not sure if this upcoming Mini 3 will share the same starting price, all signs point to it being another 249g drone perfect for beginners.<\/p>\n
