An earlier post on theCUBE accompanied the announcement of Velocity<\/a>, a new service co-created by Amazon Web Services Inc. and Accenture PLC, and with the promise of expediting the optimization of business outcomes by up to 50%.<\/p>\n

Insiders from both companies at the solution\u2019s helm have come through with more information on their individual roles in the equation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Velocity, it\u2019s really about innovation,\u201d said Erik Farr<\/a> (pictured, right), head of solution architecture for the Accenture AWS Business Group at Amazon Web Services Inc.<\/span>\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s really about trying to speed<\/span>\u00a0the way that we help our customers,<\/span>\u00a0not just innovate through the AWS services,<\/span>\u00a0but with Accenture \u2014<\/span>\u00a0with their ability to come in<\/span>\u00a0and bring their expertise in industries<\/span>\u00a0and in the technology underpinnings<\/span>\u00a0and all of the aspects<\/span>\u00a0of what we do together as a partnership.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Farr and Chris Wegmann<\/a> (pictured, left), technology and practice managing director of the\u00a0Accenture AWS Business Group at<\/span>\u00a0Accenture PLC, spoke with theCUBE industry analyst\u00a0John Walls<\/a> at the <\/span>AWS Executive Summit at re:Invent<\/span><\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed the Velocity platform in detail with relevant use-case examples. <\/span>(* Disclosure below.)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

What it does, and who it\u2019s for<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s said that necessity is the mother of invention. The necessity, in this case, was born from the sheer amount of time and effort it took to get purpose-built services available for customers to build atop, according to Wegmann.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went through just a very simple<\/span>\u00a0checklist, predefined architectures, predefined solutions<\/span>\u00a0and that stuff, and we just cranked it out,\u201d he explained. \u201c<\/span>And that\u2019s what we\u2019ve built.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s designed and it is helping us internally<\/span>\u00a0as well as our customers just go that much faster<\/span>\u00a0and get to that innovation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In a nutshell, the Velocity platform exists to be leveraged by organizations looking to innovate within the AWS ecosystem, according to Farr. Velocity takes AWS\u2019 vast set of capabilities and combines them with Accenture\u2019s implementation expertise so that enterprises can compress their cloud-driven transformations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is designed not just to be something we use<\/span>\u00a0at the beginning of a cloud<\/span>\u00a0journey, but<\/span>\u00a0it\u2019s to help customers continue<\/span>\u00a0through their journey as well,\u201d Wegmann concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n
