Amazon Web Services Inc. today introduced a number of new capabilities designed to simplify how enterprise developers build cloud applications without having to manage computer servers.<\/p>\n

During a keynote, Amazon Chief Technology Officer Werner Vogels (pictured) explained that operating systems, the base of our digital world, are event-driven and that the world itself is similarly asynchronous.<\/p>\n

\u201cAsynchrony leads to loosely coupled systems,\u201d Vogels said in his opening comments, when he customarily lays out new thinking on computer architectures. \u201cThis is an architecture that can easily evolve without changing other systems.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But he noted that event-driven systems themselves are complex and difficult to build.\u00a0To support developers building so-called\u00a0serverless<\/a> applications that don\u2019t require them to manage cloud servers, AWS announced a preview of AWS Application Composer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a visual interface that allows developers to drag, drop and connect AWS services into an application through a browser. It greatly simplifies the creation of serverless\u00a0apps and reduces the learning curve for event-driven architectures for developer teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cModern applications are asynchronous and event-driven, for a better user experience, but they are hard to build, as traditional programming does not follow these design principles,\u201d Holger Mueller, an analyst with Constellation Research Inc., told SiliconANGLE. \u201cSo, enterprises need high-level tools to help their developers build better next-generation applications, and that is what AWS Application Composer is delivering.\u201d<\/p>\n

Using Application Composer, developer teams can rapidly prototype new serverless event-driven applications, review and collaboratively evolve existing projects and quickly onboard new members. That helps reduce the steps to deploy projects that would have taken much longer using traditional tools.<\/p>\n
