Given current economic uncertainties, companies are embracing a data-driven culture and building out infrastructures to harness trusted data in an expedient and scalable manner.<\/p>\n

The latest in that growing list is Bridgestone Americas Inc., which has leaned on the expertise of\u00a0Accenture PLC and the Amazon Web Services Inc. platform to create its Central Data Platform. In doing so, the company hopes to add solutions to its well-known product reputation.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow do we service<\/span>\u00a0those [products] after they\u2019re in the market? How do we bring solutions to help fleets,<\/span>\u00a0vehicle owners and operators operate those in a sustainable and<\/span>\u00a0cost-effective way?\u201d asked\u00a0Jason Beyer<\/a> (pictured, right), vice president of data and analytics at Bridgestone. \u201cSo those solutions, of course, bring all<\/span>\u00a0new sets of data and analytics that come with it.\u00a0<\/span>And\u00a0this new phase for the organization \u2014 that we refer to as Bridgestone 3.0 \u2014<\/span>\u00a0and that business strategy is driving our cloud, technolog, and<\/span>\u00a0data strategies, with AWS and Accenture as important partners.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyer and\u00a0Josh von Schaumburg<\/a>\u00a0(pictured, left),\u00a0 managing director of North America AWS security at Accenture, spoke with theCUBE industry analyst John Walls<\/a> at the <\/span>AWS Executive Summit at re:Invent<\/span><\/a>, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed Bridgestone\u2019s proactive data-driven strategy decision. <\/span>(* Disclosure below.)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Analyzing \u2018Bridgestone 3.0\u2019<\/h3>\n

Bridgestone is known for its popular consumer products, such as tires, golf balls and hoses. But little-known is the company\u2019s vertically integrated business model, according to Beyer. This fact, combined with its pivot toward preferring solutions, has necessitated a data-focused direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cI get to see the vast array of Bridgestone, which is a large, highly vertically integrated company \u2026<\/span>\u00a0all the way from raw material sourcing of natural rubber to<\/span>\u00a0retail services in the automotive industry,\u201d\u00a0Beyer explained<\/span>. \u201cWe\u2019re at scale across those areas, and t<\/span>he exciting thing about the company right now is we\u2019re going through this business transformation of becoming a product and solutions company.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A prominent value driver for cloud transformation, as has happened in Bridgestone\u2019s case, is the high scalability of AWS services and solutions, according to Schaumburg. As requirements expand, the infrastructure scales without any added provisioning or tuning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn particular, with the CDP platform, it really started off as a<\/span>\u00a0single use case and, really, a single tenant data lake,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd then through <\/span>the strategic vision of Jason and the leadership team, we\u2019ve been able to expand that to\u00a0<\/span>10-plus tenants and use cases. And a big reason behind that is\u00a0<\/span>the scalability of all these AWS services.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
