The pace of major announcements picked up significantly on Tuesday, the second of a four-day AWS re:Invent<\/a> gathering in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

The cloud giant released several new offerings<\/a> in custom silicon, machine learning, serverless computing and data integration. The growing number of services from AWS and its leading role in the public cloud are reshaping perceptions of the company from being just a place to store data to something more significant, according to one analyst.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are seeing a real legitimization of AWS in a number of areas where people said it wasn\u2019t possible before,\u201d said Zeus Kerravala<\/a> (pictured, left), principal analyst at ZK Research. \u201cNasdaq has said it will be running in the cloud; things we looked at before but said those will never move to the cloud are now moving to the cloud. AWS is changing, and they are now getting into areas to allow customers to do things they couldn\u2019t do before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerravala spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier<\/a>\u00a0(pictured, center) and Dave Vellante<\/a>\u00a0(pictured, right), at AWS re:Invent<\/a>, during Tuesday\u2019s keynote analysis on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media\u2019s livestreaming studio. They discussed initial impressions after the conference\u2019s first two days of keynotes. (* Disclosure below.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Emerging ecosystem<\/h3>\n

An exclusive SiliconANGLE interview<\/a> with AWS chief executive Adam Selipsky, prior to the start of the show, provided insight into the firm\u2019s evolving role in writing the next chapter for cloud computing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe analysis is clear: AWS is going next-gen,\u201d Furrier said. \u201cYou have this new next-gen cloud where the ecosystem is emerging.\u201d<\/p>\n

The emergence of the AWS ecosystem provides an important element for the company\u2019s future growth. The key to its future success will depend heavily on nurturing an ecosystem from an already significant partner and customer base, a \u201cbumper sticker\u201d message to emerge from the conference so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy bumper sticker is ecosystem, ecosystem, ecosystem,\u201d Vellante said. \u201cThis company has 100,000 partners, and that is a business-model secret weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n
