Joy Behar, who has been on \u201cThe View\u201d for 22 years and will co-host<\/a> her final show this week, once famously got fired from \u201cGood Morning America.\u201d<\/p>\n

Behar was a writer for the ABC morning show when she was fired in 1975 after refusing to read the words of her bosses. The incident came during a controversial period at GMA, during which Barbara Walters refused to read some of the words she was told to say.<\/p>\n

In 1975, Joy Behar was one of the original members of the \u201cGMA\u201d panel when the morning talk show premiered and became an immediate success, beating NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d in the ratings for the first time ever. On Monday, Behar recalled her time on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos during an interview on ABC\u2019s \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d<\/p>\n

In 1999, Behar was fired from \u201cGood Morning America\u201d after ABC decided to go with Willard Scott instead.<\/p>\n

Behar went on to host \u201cThe View,\u201d where she has been since 2007. She is currently co-hosting alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain.<\/p>\n

Behar is known for her work on the ABC news show, \u201cThe View,\u201d but she was originally a panelist on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d from 1975 to 1978. At the time, she appeared alongside David Hartman and Burt Likins in addition to co-hosts Frank Reynolds and Charlie Gibson.<\/p>\n

She returned to the program in 1983 as a guest anchor after Candice Bergen left it following an incident where she reportedly made rude comments about President Ronald Reagan\u2019s age during his re-election<\/a> campaign.<\/p>\n

The next year, Behar became one of its permanent hosts despite many conservative viewers\u2019 protestations due to her political beliefs (at the time). Behar was an original member of this famous morning show\u2019s famous panel until being fired by ABC executives in 1975 because they didn\u2019t want controversy surrounding their network\u2019s top show.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
