Even though this year is coming to an end, there have been some moments that have created a feeling of uncertainty about what\u2019s to come in the next year. <\/span><\/p>\n

The rise in the prices of food items, increased<\/a> costs of rent, economic instability, inflation, and the list keeps increasing. This is why it is no surprise that the cost of living in the state of New Jersey has increased quite significantly over the last year. This begs the question about the efficacy of an extra $500 as a stimulus check payment. It has been reported that the United States Department of Treasury recently announced an ITIN- which is the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number- Assistance<\/a> Program, which would be issuing a sum of $500 to more than 60,000 low-income families in the state in the next few months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The stimulus check money will be intended to go to those people who didn\u2019t qualify for the economic stimulus payments that were funded by the Excluded New Jerseyans Fund. This program was designed to provide assistance to the homeless, undocumented immigrants, and formerly incarcerated citizens living in the state. The money that is to be used for this ITIN Assistance Program will come through from the state\u2019s portion of the American Rescue Plan- which is a relief program that was initiated during the health crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It has also been mentioned that the residents of the state don\u2019t have to apply for the stimulus check, with their eligibility will be based on the information on file from the previous tax year. In order to qualify, the eligible applicant needs to live under the poverty line, and they also need to have their tax for the year 2021 with an ITIN. The checks for these payments would then be mailed accordingly. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
