If you need a helping hand managing your server, make someone an admin on your Discord server<\/a>. Doing so allows that user to perform all administrative tasks, like moderating discussions and creating channels<\/a>. Here\u2019s how to do that.<\/p>\n

To grant someone admin privileges, you\u2019ll first create an admin role and then assign it to your user. You must be the server admin or owner to be able to do this. Also, be careful while granting admin access to someone as they can change quite a lot of things on your server.<\/p>\n

Make Someone a Server Admin on Discord From Desktop<\/h2>\n

To start the process on your desktop computer, open the Discord desktop app or Discord for the web<\/a>. Then sign in to your account.<\/p>\n

From Discord\u2019s left sidebar, select the server in which you want to make someone an admin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the server page, right next to the server name at the top, click the down-arrow icon.<\/p>\n

From the expanded menu, select \u201cServer Settings.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the sidebar on the left, click \u201cRoles\u201d to view the available roles.<\/p>\n

To create a new role with admin access, from the \u201cRoles\u201d section on the right, select \u201cCreate Role.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll see an \u201cEdit Role\u201d page. Here, in the \u201cRole Name\u201d field, type a name for the new role. Use a descriptive name like Admin<\/code> or Administrator<\/code> so you know what this role is for. Optionally, customize other options for the role.<\/p>\n

Then, in the tab list at the top, click the \u201cPermissions\u201d tab.<\/p>\n

Scroll the \u201cPermissions\u201d tab all the way down. There, turn on the \u201cAdministrator\u201d option. This grants all admin privileges to the new role you\u2019re creating.<\/p>\n

Save your changes by clicking \u201cSave Changes\u201d at the bottom. Then press Esc to go back to the server screen.<\/p>\n

On the server screen, from the member list on the right, select the user you want to make an admin. Right-click this user and choose Roles > Admin (where \u201cAdmin\u201d is the name of the new role you just created).<\/p>\n

Tip:<\/strong> If you don\u2019t see the member list, then at the top of the server page, click the \u201cShow Member List\u201d option.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Your selected user is now an admin on your server. You\u2019re all set.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to remove admin access from the user in the future, then right-click<\/a> that user and choose Roles > Admin.<\/p>\n

Give Someone Admin Controls on Discord for Mobile<\/h2>\n

To give someone admin access from your mobile phone, first, launch the Discord app on your phone. In the app\u2019s left sidebar, tap the server in which you want to make someone an admin.<\/p>\n

At the top of the server page, tap the three dots.<\/p>\n

Tap \u201cSettings.\u201d<\/p>\n

In \u201cServer Settings,\u201d tap \u201cRoles\u201d to view and add user roles.<\/p>\n

\"Choose<\/p>\n

On the \u201cRoles\u201d page, add a new role by tapping the \u201c+\u201d (plus) button in the bottom-right corner.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re now on the \u201cRole Settings\u201d page. Here, tap \u201cRole Name\u201d and type a name for this role. Enter something descriptive like Admin<\/code> or Administrator<\/code> for the name. Then, feel free to change any other options you want.<\/p>\n

Scroll the \u201cRole Settings\u201d page to the bottom. There, enable \u201cAdministrator\u201d to grant the role all admin privileges. Then save your changes by tapping the floppy disk<\/a> icon in the bottom-right corner.<\/p>\n

Go back to your server page and tap \u201cMembers\u201d to view the member list.<\/p>\n

On the \u201cMember List\u201d page, find the user to make an admin. Then, next to that user, tap the three dots.<\/p>\n

On the following screen, enable the box for the newly created role.<\/p>\n

Discord will automatically save your changes, and your selected user is now an admin on your server.<\/p>\n

In the future, if you\u2019d ever like to revoke admin access from that user, tap that user on the member list and deselect the role option.<\/p>\n
