of internet influencers can create an unhealthy self-image, marketers too can fall victim to unrealistic standards and FOMO created by the marketing blogosphere and the breathy propaganda of martech vendors.<\/p>\n<p>Trust me: not all marketing campaigns perform at the level showcased on LinkedIn.\u00a0 Not all companies are tracking marketing-attributed revenue down to the penny.\u00a0 Not all organizations have reaped torrents of revenue through a seamless migration to ABM.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/spearmarketing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/world-class-marketing.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/wp-content\/themes\/breek\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/spearmarketing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/world-class-marketing.jpg\" alt=\"world-class marketing\" class=\"wp-image-6107\" width=\"375\" height=\"306\" granted, maybe my perspective is colored by the fact that, as a marketing agency, we work mainly with companies who need help.\u00a0 But conversations with enough marketers over the years tells me that most B2B organizations, big and small, struggle with some element of their marketing execution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Marketing attribution is a good example.\u00a0 I presented recently to a client\u2019s partner network on the topic of marketing analytics, and felt compelled to moderate the ambition of attendees by advising them that, for most B2B organizations, consistently and accurately tracking marketing-attributed revenue and ROI is difficult, and complex, and something few achieve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My advice was: if you\u2019re only tracking clicks, track leads.\u00a0 If you\u2019re only tracking leads, track MQLs (and Cost Per MQL).\u00a0 If you\u2019re tracking MQLs, track marketing attributed pipeline.\u00a0 And so on.<\/p>\n<p>B2B marketing is now so technology-driven in part due to the fact that marketers are looking for that technical short-cut, that one investment that can suddenly vault their marketing to a world-class standard.\u00a0 Yes, there are technologies that make marketing more efficient, and scalable, and easier to optimize, but there are no silver bullets.<\/p>\n<p> <span class=\"bctt-click-to-tweet\"><span target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dave Brailsford<\/a> is famous for achieving success through a system of \u201cmarginal gains,\u201d small improvements of as little as one percent that, cumulatively, made a huge difference to his athletes.\u00a0 Marketers can adopt the same approach.\u00a0 Dream big, certainly.\u00a0 Aim high.\u00a0 But realize that the path to marketing greatness is
