Nerds love to draw comparisons between VR and\u00a0Star Trek\u2019s<\/em> Holodeck<\/a>, a room that creates interactive (and often deadly) computerized environments. That comparison feels pretty accurate today, as Facebook is now stealing one of the fictional Holodeck\u2019s underrated features\u2014the ability to craft a VR world using voice commands.<\/p>\n

In a new demonstration video, Mark Zuckerberg shows how a prototype AI called Builder Bot<\/a>\u00a0can instantaneously shape a VR environment at your request. Commands like \u201clet\u2019s go to the beach\u201d adjust the setting for the VR world, just as they do in the Holodeck. And to our surprise, ultra-specific requests like \u201cfill the sky with\u00a0altocumulus clouds\u201d work without a hitch.<\/p>\n
