Samsung doesn\u2019t include a charging adapter in the box for any Galaxy S22<\/a><\/strong> model, but they do offer a 45W charger on its site for $49. The problem? According to recent testing, there appears to be hardly any difference between the company\u2019s 45W charging speeds versus its 25W charger\u2019s speeds. That\u2019s a problem when there\u2019s a $30 price difference.<\/p>\n

Testing conducted by GSMArena <\/em><\/a>shows that when charging a Galaxy S22 Ultra for 30 minutes with the 45W charger, the phone will end up with 60% battery. When charging with the 25W charger? 61%. When charging to completion using the 45W charger, the S22 Ultra takes 59 minutes to get to 100%. And with the 25W charger, it takes just 1:05H. That\u2019s about a 5 minute difference, which costs you $30 more. Worth it? I think not.<\/p>\n

Why is this? Well, the answer is simple and we\u2019ve seen similar stories before<\/a>. To help ensure your phone\u2019s battery won\u2019t degrade too rapidly, companies will limit the incoming charge to certain speeds when plugged in for extended periods. Usually, you\u2019ll only see those fast charging speeds for the first 10-15 minutes, then the phone slows the charge down so as not to stress the battery. This is how phones can get so much charge in a short period, but then always seem to take an hour+ to get a full charge. This is all by design and helps increase the overall longevity of the battery.<\/p>\n

So make a note to yourself if you purchased a 45W charging brick from Samsung. If you plug in for a quick period, you\u2019ll get a nice battery boost, but those speeds do go down as the phone continues to sit on the charger.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
