Image: Google.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The new <code>[short_title]<\/code> attribute differs from the existing <code>Google Merchant Center adds short title option for smaller ad placements<\/code> attribute in that the short title should be concise and is intended to show in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/merchants\/answer\/11551083?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">browsy experiences<\/a>,\u201d like Discovery campaigns and Shopping ads on Gmail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we care. <\/strong>Full product titles often get truncated in the \u201cbrowsy\u201d contexts Google has mentioned, which means that users may not be seeing all the relevant information from your ad. Google also advises that merchants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a relevant, concise short title that clearly describes their product.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the short title describes the product on the landing page.<\/li>\n<li>Use professional and grammatically correct language.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid foreign languages unless they\u2019re well understood (e.g., \u201csushi\u201d).<\/li>\n<li>Avoid using capital letters for emphasis.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid including promotional text (i.e., prices, sales dates, your business\u2019 name, etc).<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t add extra white spaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Best practices for short titles.<\/strong> As mentioned above, Google recommends limiting your short titles to 65 characters or less \u2014 this is because users typically only see the first 65 characters of a short title (depending on their screen size).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You should also highlight the most important details by placing them towards the front, since users don\u2019t always read the entire title.
