Samsung Galaxy phones are very popular, but they include a feature<\/a> that is very unpopular:\u00a0Bixby. The Galaxy S22 series gives prominent placement to Bixby once again. We\u2019ll show you how to disable the virtual assistant.<\/p>\n

Bixby rears its ugly head in a couple of different places on the Galaxy S22. First, and perhaps the most annoying, is that holding the power button brings up Bixby instead of the power menu. Second, there\u2019s a \u201cHi, Bixby\u201d wake-up command. Let\u2019s get rid of both.<\/p>\n

Remove Bixby from the Power Button<\/h2>\n

Technically, the power button on the Galaxy S22 is called the \u201cSide Key.\u201d That\u2019s because holding it doesn\u2019t open the power menu by default anymore. It wakes up Bixby instead.<\/p>\n

First, swipe down once from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Next, select \u201cAdvanced Features\u201d from the Settings.<\/p>\n

\"Go<\/p>\n

Find \u201cSide Key\u201d and select it.<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Lastly, switch the action for \u201cPress and Hold\u201d to \u201cPower Off Menu.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Choose<\/p>\n

Now, when you press and hold the button it won\u2019t launch Bixby anymore! You\u2019ll see the regular power menu with the option to Power Off and Restart.<\/p>\n

Turn Off the Bixby Wake-Up Command<\/h2>\n

Bu default, you can use Bixby by simply saying \u201cHi, Bixby\u201d from anywhere. If you don\u2019t want to use Bixby, this listening for the command in the background is just eating up the battery. So let\u2019s turn that off too.<\/p>\n

First, open \u201cBixby\u201d from the app drawer and tap the compass icon from the floating Bixby bar.<\/p>\n

Next, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right and select \u201cSettings.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Open<\/p>\n

Now simply toggle off the switch for \u201cVoice Wake-Up.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all there is to it. Bixby will no longer be listening for the wake-up command and you have the power menu back with the Power Button. Bixby is still installed<\/a> on your Galaxy S22, but by disabling it in these areas, you\u2019ll never run into it.<\/p>\n
